Students Honoured By ConocoPhillips at Annual Awards Ceremony
Doha, June 24, 2009 – Students from various schools were awarded bronze, silver, gold and platinum certificates, medals and trophies at the 2009 Regatta Sailing Academy’s Annual Awards ceremony held at the Intercontinental Doha. Parents, teachers principals and guests were present to congratulate the students on a remarkable sailing season. Mohammed Al Jaidah from the Ministry of Environment, a keen supporter of environmentally friendly watersports, presented the awards.
"We have been privileged to have ConocoPhillips as the exclusive sponsor of the International Award Sailing Expedition and the Academy’s Tera series. Thanks to their generosity students have been able to enjoy the art of sailing. Today, all the students receiving awards have shown passion and commitment to sailing. They have completed round-trips of some 250 nautical miles in their sailing expeditions. These expeditions have challenged each student and provided them with a personal skill for their future success," added Mr. Lawton.
